SCCB delegation, including Prof. Peng Zhang, three staffs (Dr. Xiaoguang Duan, Hongxia Wang and Jia Liu) and three graduate students (Jun Yang, Shanshan Zhao and Dong An), participated in the 10th Annual Conference of Chinese Society for Plant Physiology (CSPP) which was held at Kai Feng, Henan province on August 13-17, 2009. On the meeting, the delegation submitted 7 abstracts and 7 posters, respectively. Prof. Peng Zhang gave an oral presentation entitled “Gene expression profiling of developing cassava storage root and its starch quality improvement by genetic engineering” in the session of Plant Biotechnology and Industrialization. The report presented recent cassava research progress at SCCB, which is well acknowledged by attendees. Hongxia Wang’s poster entitled “Functional identification of genes related to anthocyanin biosynthesis in sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas Lam.)” won the Excellent Poster Award on the conference.
