Ms Bi Gu, Senior Scientist of Laboratory for Cassava Processing & Comprehensive Utilization, supported by State Cassava Industrial Technology Research System, visited SCCB on May 13, 2009. As an expert on starch fundamental research and industrial application in the Center for Sugar Technology Research of Guangxi University, Ms. Gu has established intensive collaborations with various industries for developing novel starch-related products and technologies, such as in textile, paper, food, building materials etc. During her visit, she exchanged her views with Prof. Peng Zhang on how to develop value-added cassava starch by the modification of starch property using genetic engineering to promote the system development. She also expressed her strongly wiliness to collaborate with SCCB on cassava starch property analysis and developing novel starch-related products. Later she visited the laboratory including tissue culture room and greenhouse.
