The 2nd "Willow Catkin Cup" National Race for high-yielding sweet potato was held in Sishui, Shandong Province, on October 26, 2011. New variety “Taizhong 6”, which was bred jointly by the SCCB and Taian Agricultural Academy of Sciences, won the third place in the High-Quality Edible Group. The cultivar, having a yield record of 3375.9 kg/Mu, was listed as the second place among the 22 tested varieties. The evaluation committee made remarks on the cultivar, concluding it is a high-yielding and abiotic stress and disease resistant one with good tasting and high processing quality. The cultivar shows a prosperous future for large-scale cultivation and expanding.
