Edible purple sweet potato variety "Taizhong 11", jointly bred by Taian Academy of Agricultural Sciences and SCCB, was examined and approved by Crop Variety Authorization Committee of Shandong Province (No: Lunongshen 2015041). This cultivar has elite properties, such as good tuber germination and set, high marketability, good taste and high anthocyanins.

"Taizhong 11" was bred from the progenies of Yanshu176 by open pollination. After multiple site comparison tests from 2009 to 2011, the cultivar was selected for regional field trial from 2012 to 2013 in Shandong province because of its well performance. The cultivar is drought-, low temperature- and barren soil- resistance, suitable for cultivation in marginal land in mountain areas. The official accreditation of the cultivar reflects the win-win model in the bilateral collaboration between our center and local breeding institutes.
