Zusheng Wei, researcher from Guangxi Cassava Research Institute, visited SCCB for training on cassava tissue culture and genetic transformation from July 2 to September 24, 2009. The Exchange is supported by the project "breeding elite cassava varieties with high-yield, high starch and robust stress resistance”, which is supported by the National Key Technology R&D Program in 11th Five-Year Plan Period.
During his stay, Zusheng studied several aspects related to cassava genetics, biotechnology and functional genomics. Furthermore, he also learned technology about plant regeneration and genetic transformation of cassava.
