The first working meeting of National Technological System of Cassava Industrialization (NTSCI) was held at Haikou, Hainan from March 26 to 27, 2010. More than 30 participants, including the scientists of different research laboratories and agents of different research stations, participated in the important event. Accompanied by Dr. Xiaoguang Duan, Prof. Peng Zhang, Scientist of Genetic Engineering in the system, joined the meeting.

The Principal Investigator, Prof. Kaimian Li, addressed the main issues related to cassava system construction at the conference. The scientists and agents of the system not only discussed the positions and duties in the system during the 12th “Five Year Plan”, but also reported the main strategic plans for “Hundred Days Action for Technology Services”. During the meeting, participants intensively discussed the organization for “China Potato Expo 2010” and reached a preliminary framework for the exhibition. Other issues, e.g. China-Africa cooperation and exchanges on science and technology as well as the candidates for the system logo design, were also discussed.
