The China (Boao) Forum for Agricultural Science and Technology, jointly organized by MOST, MOA and Hainan Government, was held at the International Conference Center of Boao Forum for Asia. About 500 invited participants from universities, research institutes and seed companies related to agriculture attended the important event. Sixteen Academcians including Longping Yuan, Zhensheng Li, Jingrui Dai, Huaan Xie, Xiaoya Chen, Yunliu Fan presented their excellent oral presentations and discussed the issues related to conference theme “Development of Seed Science and Technology to Guarantee Food Security”. Prof. Peng Zhang from SCCB presented the achievement on cassava transgenic research through a poster presentation.

After the Forum, accompanied by Prof. Kaimian Li, Peng visited the cassava research center at the Tropical Crops Genetic Resources Institute, CATAS. He exchanged the views of collaborative project on cassava proteomics study with Dr. Songbi Chen. Then Peng visited the Environment and Plant Protection Institute, CATAS. Guided by Executive Director Guixiu Huang, Peng visited the research centers including Research Center of Tropical Plant Diseases, Research Center of Tropical Agricultural Entomology. Bilateral collaboration on improvement of disease resistance on tropical crops was established after intensive discussion and exchange of ideas.
