On May 10th, Dr. Marc Ghislain of International Potato Center (CIP) and Director LU Xiaoping of the CIP-China Center for Asia and the Pacific (CCCAP) visited SIPPE and SCCB.

Prof. LI Laigeng, the deputy director of SIPPE, made a welcome address and introduction of SIPPE to the delegation on the joint symposium in the morning. Several PIs, including Drs. ZHANG Peng, TANG Weihua, XIAO Han, LI Xuan and ZHANG Yijing, attended. Prof. ZHANG Peng gave a progress report on sweetpotato research. Dr. Marc Ghislain and Director LU Xiaoping introduced the current status and programs of CIP and CCCAP, respectively. Both sides intensively discussed the potential bilateral research cooperation on root and tuber crops.

In the afternoon, the CIP scientists visited our center, phytotron and insect museum with great interest.
