Recently our center was invited and published two review articles in the Burleigh Dodds Series in Agricultural Science of Burleigh Dodds Science. The article entitled “Advances in genetic modification of cassava”was published on the book “Achieving sustainable cultivation of cassava (Vol. 2: Genetics, breeding, pests and diseases)”and systematically updated the development and application of cassava genetic transformation technology from 2011 to 2017. The paper is also a sequel of the review article “Cassava genetic transformation and its application in breeding” that published on Journal of Integrative Plant Biology in 2011. Another review paper with the title of Developing new sweet potato varieties with improved performance was published on the book “Achieving sustainable cultivation of potatoes (Vol. 1: Breeding improved varieties)”, which introduced the major progress and application of sweet potato genetic engineering from 2010 to 2017. The article is an updated progress review following the publication of Characterization of genes and promoters, transformation and transgenic development in sweet potato by Mohan C and Nair AG in 2012.
These two papers have important reference value for the research of cassava and sweet potato biotechnology in the world.
