The National Tropical Crops Conference was successfully held in Xian on November 24th-26th, 2019. Professor Peng Zhang and Associate Professor Hongxia Wang attended the event.

The well-known academicians and experts were invited to give several presentations on the conference. Prof. Zhang reported the recent progress on cassava resistance against cold entitled “advance in cold response and molecular regulation of cassava”. The presentation showed the special regulation mechanism in tropical crop cassava response to the low temperature, difference from Arabidopsis resistance against cold mechanism. Assoc. Prof. Wang exchanged and discussed with other attendees on topics of anthocyanin biosynthesis, storage root development, etc. She were invited to give a presentation entitled “sweetpotato: study from special metabolism to stoarge root development” The exchange strengthens multiple collaborations with other research teams.

In addition, eight posters were rewarded as the excellent posters in this conference, including to three posters from SCCB.
