From November 22 to 23, 2024, Dr. Zhang Peng, a leading scientist in the Breeding Technologies and Methods division of the Chinese Cassava Agritechnology System, led a core team including Associate Researcher Dr. Ma Qiuxiang to Danzhou, Hainan. They engaged in collaborative exchanges with other system experts and teams. Participants included former system Principal Investigator Dr. Li Kaimian, current Principal Investigator Dr. Zhang Zhenwen, and division experts such as Dr. Ye Jianqiu and Professor Chen Yinhua.

The discussions focused on the strategic deployment of key tasks for the 15th Five-Year Plan and enhancing collaboration across research divisions. The team also participated in a cassava flavor and quality evaluation event, conducting taste tests on steamed roots from 50 cassava varieties. Additionally, they visited the Danzhou experimental base led by Professor Chen Yinhua and the cassava processing facility of Hainan Chenlai Agricultural Development Co., Ltd., a demonstration enterprise supported by the system. The visit provided insights into cassava processing and product development.

This initiative strengthened collaborative efforts within the system, promoted resource sharing, and fostered coordinated development, laying a solid foundation for advancing the system’s overall framework.
