From August 13 to 14, Prof. Zhang Peng from our center was invited by Thailand's Department of Foreign Trade to attend the THAI TAPIOCA NEXUS 2026 in Bangkok. Hosted by the Ministry of Commerce, the conference spotlighted the entire tapioca value chain and brought together global processors, researchers, and industry stakeholders to tackle emerging challenges and strengthen supply chain resilience. The opening ceremony was presided over by the Deputy Permanent Secretary, with distinguished guests including Dr. Dusit Pittayathikhun, President of the Thai Tapioca Starch Association.

On the afternoon of August 13, Prof. Zhang delivered a presentation titled "Tapioca Starch Biosynthesis: Molecular Insights for Industrial Variety Improvement." He shared his team's latest findings on the molecular regulation of starch synthesis genes, providing a critical theoretical basis for breeding industrial-grade cassava varieties. The talk drew considerable attention from fellow experts.

During the event, Prof. Zhang also visited Thai Wah Public Company Ltd. to explore advances in starch processing and high-value product innovation, gaining valuable insights into Thailand's technological upgrading and sustainable development pathways. This visit further advanced China-Thailand scientific collaboration on cassava, laying a solid foundation for deeper cooperation in germplasm innovation and starch processing technologies.
