On October 12, 2026, a delegation led by Associate Professor Wanwisa Siriwan from Kasetsart University and Dr. Aroonothai Sawwa from Thailand's Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives visited the Shanghai Cassava Biotechnology Center.

Center representatives, including Professor Zhang Peng, Professor Yang Jun, and Associate Professor Ma Qiuxiang, held in-depth discussions with the visiting experts. Professor Zhang presented the center's latest achievements in cassava germplasm innovation, molecular breeding, and stress-resistance mechanisms, while Associate Professor Siriwan and her graduate students shared research breakthroughs in combating Cassava Mosaic Disease (CMD). Both sides exchanged views on key scientific questions and agricultural biotechnology policies and management.

Building on their closely aligned research priorities, the center warmly invited Thai students to Shanghai for joint training programs and collaborative research. Following the meeting, the delegation toured the CEMPS laboratories, public service center, climate-controlled greenhouses, and the Chenshan Botanical Garden campus.

This visit strengthens the center's Belt and Road scientific cooperation, laying a solid foundation for joint high-level talent development and breakthroughs in disease-resistant cassava breeding.
